Blues Guitar Shootout a Huge Success

Our Crossroads Blues Society and Charlotte’s Web for the Performing Arts hosted a landmark night in Rockford Blues history on July 9^th at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell.  The Blues Guitar Shootout wuih Steve Ditzell, Dan Voll, Pistol Pete and Bob Levis was a wildly popular and superb event.  Backing the guitarists up were Link Leary on drums and Rich Gordon on Bass. 

The evening was beautiful from a weather per-spective- a nicer summer night could not be had.  A huge crowd was on hand for what everyone hoped would be a fine night of blues guitar music.  No one went home disappointed. 

The format for the show was that a pair of guitarists would each do a set, then all four would jam together.  Steve Ditzell and Bob Levis began the evening, then Dan Voll and Pistol Pete performed the second set, and all four rocked the third set to a greatly appreciative audience. 

Levis and Ditzell drew from their outstanding back-ground of blues music, trading off great licks while Steve provided vocals.  Voll and Pete also played off each other in a super set that showcased their guitar virtuosity. 

The final set was even better than the first two.  All four guitar players traded off the lead and showed off their particular style of play.  Everyone in attendance were treated to the Rockford music experience of the summer!  No one went home disappointed from this event.
