November-December 2004 Newsletter
The September 18th meeting at Big Cities Lounge was capped off by a driving performance by Chris Cain and his band. Cain is also a prolific songwriter who has composed most of the music performed on his CDs. The evening of music was superb. Nino brought Cain back to perform at his club for area blues fans and all in attendance were grateful. Cain is probably one of the preeminent blues-rock guitarists in the US. The first set was almost entirely Cain’s songs. In the second set he covered several of King’s tunes. Cain was backed up by his touring bassist and drummer Sonny Hymen and Tyler Ng. Hymen’s bass playing was tight and Ng drove a great beat. Chicago freelancing keyboardist Ron Scott filled in on the ivories. If you missed the September meeting and concert, you missed out on a wonderful opportunity. Nino’s place was hopping and all in attendance were thrilled with Cain and his band.
