Right after
Christmas, my wife and I kept a promise to each other made some years ago and
took our adult children to New Orleans for the weekend. For those who don't
know, New Orleans is my home away from home. I have been there at least sixteen
times and my fascination for the city has grown with each trip. One of the joys of any visit
(besides the live music and the food) is shopping for cd's and records,
especially of local talent that may not be widely distributed. It is easy to do
because the big stores. Tower and Virgin, are a block apart. A couple of blocks
away are two used stores. Magic Bus and Skippy White's, on the same block.
Finally, another block further brings you to the largest independent dealer in
the city, the Louisiana Music Factory. This place has been my favorite for
years. They have 10-12 listening stations, each with 10 disc changers, featuring
all of the latest local releases. I came, I listened, I spent. Here
are some of the titles that may interest my fellow blues freaks!!
