Rockie Charles - Have You Seen My Uncle Steve-
Soulgate Records

The self-proclaimed President of Soul is back with his latest release that is equal parts old-style soul and funky blues. Rockie has a voice that had me confusing him with Al Green the first time I heard it. The former tugboat captain has taken on a personal crusade to remain true to the fading legacy of soul music. He wrote all twelve songs on the disc, handles the lead vocals and the guitar. If you need plenty of instrumental solos, look elsewhere. Rockie sings songs that tell a story - his story, in a voice that pleads to be heard. His latest is an honest testament to his talent and merits a listen if you your tastes fall on the soulful side of the blues.
