Some advance notice on scheduled shows of interest to our Blues fans… On the Waterfront - Labor Day weekend, Rockford. Plenty of interest this year, starting on Thursday evening with the Allman Brothers Band!! The latest edition of this classic group is making music as vibrant and lively as the original line-up. Opening for them is Los Lonely Boys, a trio of brothers receiving plenty of media attention of late. This show promises to be a great event: not-to-be-missed!! Other acts you'll want to see over the weekend include the rockin' zydeco sounds of Chubby Carrier, the fine vocals of Rene Austin, great blues guitar from Deborah Coleman and the Holmes Brothers, who consistently put on one of the best live shows you will ever see. Finally, a rare chance to hear Louisiana swamp blues from Tab Benoit, then the incredible guitar sounds of Jimmy Thackery, culminating in a final set from both bands combined for Whiskey Store Live. Big Cities Lounge - Sat., Sept 18 - the outstanding guitarist Chris Cain returns to Rockford!! Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 day of the show. Dues: The Society voted at the July meeting to increase
dues to $15 a year for single memberships and $25 a year for family
memberships. Back dues owed remain at the old rates. The new rates go in
effect for all dues renewals. Steve Jones is the new Membership Chairman and
will coordinate records of renewals and back dues payments.
